Iran Alloy Steel increases Output

Special steel producer Iran Alloy Steel has reportedly increased production by 23 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of Iranian year (to October 22).

Managing director Ebrahim Ghadirian told S&P Global Platts that the company’s output of alloy steel totalled 220,000 mt in the period, 30,000 mt of which was exported. Exports are expected to rise to 50,000 mt by the end of the current Iranian year in March 2017, he added.

Capacity is 600,000 mt/year, but the plant,  in Yazd province, is operating at around 340,000 mt/year and will take two years to ramp up to nominal capacity; it is also planning to increase capacity to 1.3 million mt/year within two years.
