Azizollah Ramezani, the international affairs director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), said Tehran is in talks with a number of German companies over exporting gas to Europe.
The NIGC is preparing the ground for gas exports to European destinations, Ramezani said on Monday, Shana reported.
He added that talks are underway with a number of German companies for carrying Iran’s gas to Europe.
The senior Iranian official added that the country has signed a number of gas contracts with major international firms, including Russia’s Gazprom, Germany’s Siemens, South Korea’s Kogas in an attempt to reclaim its previous position in the international oil market in the wake of the removal of sanctions.
Iran holds the world’s third-largest proven oil reserves and the second-largest natural gas reserves.
