The German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier (pictured), will start an official two-day visit to Iran on Tuesday.
According to Tehran Times, it will be Steinmeier’s second trip to Tehran in this Iranian year; he visited the country October 16 to 18, 2015.
The Germany embassy in Tehran said in a press release:
“During his stay, Mr. Steinmeier will hold talks with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Hassan Rouhani, the President of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Larijani, as well as with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif…
“The expected discussions will cover a wide range of topics including bilateral relations, economic cooperation but also regional issues such as the ongoing conflict in Syria and recent tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.”
During the time of his trip, Steinmeier will be accompanied by a high-ranking delegation including representatives of German business and cultural life.
