Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov said his country is ready to receive natural gas from Iran and pump it to European countries.
He made the statement in a meeting with Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, during which expansion of trade ties after the removal of anti-Iran sanctions was discussed.
“In the coming 2-3 weeks, when we reach at the phase to start implementation of the nuclear Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), both countries can expand their trade relations,” Larijiani said.
The visiting Bulgarian minister said in the meeting with the Iranian speaker, the idea of energy exchange was reviewed.
“There are new topics raised by European countries suggesting that they want to invest in diversifying energy sources,” Mitov said.“In Bulgaria, we are ready to transfer natural gas from Iran to European countries … The EU strategy is to diversify its energy sources and Iran can play an important role in this regard.”
