The British foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, has summoned the Iranian ambassador, Hamid Baeidinejad, to demand that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe (pictured), the British-Iranian woman held by Tehran, is given proper medical treatment.
The dual national, who was sentenced to five years in prison for espionage, has started a hunger strike after her interrogators tried to persuade her to become a spy, her husband Richard has claimed.
She is protesting against the refusal of the authorities at Evin prison to give her medical help for a lump on her breast, as well as other concerns.
Zaghari-Ratcliffe is on hunger strike along with prominent Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi, who also requires medical attention.
