Iran Ordered to pay $6.27bn to 9/11 Victims’ Families

A US judge has ordered Iran to pay some family members of victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks a total of $6.27 billion as compensation for pain, suffering and mental anguish.

Ahough the 9/11 Commission found no evidence of Iranian involvement in the plot, Judge George Daniels of the Southern District Court of New York ordered Iran to pay the families or estates of the deceased $12.5 million per spouse, $8.5 million per parent, $8.5 million per child and $4.25 million per sibling.
