US President Donald Trump’s firing of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson may hasten the demise of the Iran nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Tillerson’s replacement, CIA chief Mike Pompeo, has expressed hawkish views on Iran and the nuclear deal.
Trump delivered an ultimatum to European powers in January, calling on them to fix the “terrible flaws” in the deal, or he would refuse to extend U.S. sanctions relief beyond 12th May.
