Tourist Numbers fell in 2016

According to a report from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), 4.9 million tourists visited Iran in 2016, a drop of 5.6 percent from a year earlier, and the first decline since 2013.

2,938 million tourists arrived in 2010, increasing to 4.967 million in 2014 and 5.237 million in 2015, bringing in $2.43 billion, $3.84 billion, and $3.86 billion in revenues respectively, the report said.

Under the 2025 Tourism Vision Plan, Iran plans to increase to 20 million tourists in 2025.
