A high-ranking delegation from the German company Aurubis, the largest copper producer in Europe, plans to pay an official visit to Iran to explore avenues for closer cooperation between the two countries, a senior Iranian official announced.
CEO of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Mahdi Karbasian (pictured) said that in his recent visit to Germany’s Hamburg and a meeting with the CEO of Aurubis, which is the largest copper recycler worldwide, the German firm voiced its willingness to promote cooperation and invest in Iran’s copper industry.
It was also agreed that the German company send a delegation to the Islamic Republic in the near future, the official added.
Earlier this year, the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) and Germany’s MKM Mansfelder Kupfer und Messing GmbH, which is one of the largest European holding companies, signed a one-billion euro deal to develop cooperation in copper industry.
“The MKM has expressed its willingness to invest in Iran’s mining projects and particularly downstream industries up to one billion euros,” Mohammad Esfandiar, a member of the NICICO board of directors, announced at the time.
The NICICO is after “trade and technological interaction” with the world, branding and presence in international markets, the official noted.
