US investigates Huawei over Iran business

By John Lee.

According to a subpoena viewed by The New York Times, the United States Commerce Department is demanding that Chinese technology company Huawei turn over all information regarding the export or re-export of American technology to a number of countries, including Iran.

The subpoena is part of an investigation into whether the company broke United States export controls.

In 2011, Huawei said that it would voluntarily restrict the growth of its business in Iran.
