Iran to Cooperate with South Africa on Desalination Plants

By John Lee.

As the worst drought in living memory grips South Africa, it has partnered with Iran to develop seawater desalination plants, according to a report from Reuters.

Water and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane (pictured) told reporters:

“Now with the partnership that we have entered into through the binational commission between SA and Iran, we want to go full steam [ahead].”

While there were no indicative costs at this stage, the first investment meeting is planned for next month.
