Iran’s Cement Exports down by 20%

Iranian cement and clinker exports fell by 20 percent over the past Iranian year (1394), IRNA reports.

According to Abdolreza Sheikhan, the secretary of the Association of Cement Industry Entrepreneurs, Iran’s exports of cement and clinker shrank to nearly 15 million tons from 18.5 million tons the previous year.

He said that security concerns in regional countries were a key factor in the fall, but added that in 1394, 60 percent of Iranian exports of cement and clinker were sent to Iraq, which has increased tariffs on import of cement from 4 to 13 dollars per ton last year, and further to 72 dollars per ton this year.

He also referred to Azerbaijan as another main destination for Iranian cement, saying as the country has increased its production capacity and it has lowered import from Iran.
