Big Rise in Tenders for Iranian Offshore Projects

By John Lee.

Zawya reports that the number of tenders for Iranian offshore projects increased by 20 percent in the last Iranian calendar year.

The Head of the Contracts Department at the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC) said that 120 tenders were held last year for development of the offshore sector and the sea fields, while 86 contracts were signed in the operations, development and services sectors.

Salman Khosravi said Iranian companies signed 70 of the contracts, and foreign companies 15.

The company has deployed most of its drilling rigs in the Salman oil field (pictured) (shared with the UAE), and the Foroozan field (shared with Saudi Arabia).
