NIDC Places 15 Drilling Rigs in Shared Fields

Iran has placed 15 offshore and onshore drilling rigs in oilfields shared with neighbouring countries, which have so far spudded 100 wells.

The Managing Director of National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has said the company is currently drilling wells in Azadegan, South Yaran, Azar, Sohrab and Phase 14 of South Pars oil and gas fields, which Iran shares with various countries.

Heidar Bahmani said NIDC is finalizing drilling operations of 5 wells in South Azadegan and one well in Sohrab fields. He said the company drilled 188 wells over the course of the past Iranian calendar year, which shows a 15 percent rise year-on-year.
