Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank has said it is in ‘intensive talks’ with Iranian banks.

In an interview with Austrian newspaper Wirtschaftsblatt, board member Peter Lennkh (pictured) added that the bank wants to reopen its office in Tehran as soon as possible, but said Iran must first rejoin SWIFT, the international payment system, which can take some months.

Lennkh, who along with 220 business people participated in a recent economic mssion to Iran with Austrian President Fischer, said that Austria is very welcome in Iran.
