The Chinese Ambassador to Iran, Pang Sen, has said that Iran contributes 10 percent of China’s imported oil.
Speaking ahead of the first visit to Iran by a Chinese head of state in 14 years, he added that China has been Iran’s largest trading partner for six consecutive years and also the largest export destination of oil and non-petroleum products.
Chinese President Xi Jinping (pictured) is visiting Iran from 22nd January at the invitation of President Rouhani.
Trade exceeded $50 billion in 2014, and many Chinese companies such as Huawei have set up branches in Iran.
