3rd GECF Summit kicks off

The third Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), presided over by Dr Rouhani, was opened in Tehran on Monday in the presence of presidents from nine countries.

Among the heads of states attending the 3rd GECF are presidents of Russia, Iraq, Bolivia, Venezuela, Guinea Equatorial, Nigeria and Turkmenistan, as well as the Prime Minister of Algeria.

Azerbaijan President’s Special Representative, Abdalla Salem El-Badri; the Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Aldo Flores-Quiroga; and the Secretary of the International Energy Forum (IEF) are among the participants.

The Forum will discuss the most important issues related to gas market outlook and strategy in the world.

GECF members account for 42 percent of global gas output, 70 percent of global gas reserves, 40 percent of pipe gas transmission, and 65 percent of global trade of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
