Austrian Firm Considers $6bn Investment in Ilam Province

The Governor General of the western province of Ilam, Mohammad-Reza Morvarid (pictured), said an Austrian company is considering investment in two oil and petrochemical projects in the province.

Following a meeting with a visiting delegation of Austrian financers, he said the firm is interested to invest $6 billion in Dehloran petrochemical plant and Dehloran NGL oil refinery.

He did not name the company but said due measures will be taken to sign the projects’ contracts in one month.

Earlier, the official said the Russian firm Zarubej Neft is going to dispatch a delegation to carry out a field study on Ilam’s oil and gas fields.

Last summer, the Iranian province and the Russian company signed an MoU to develop bilateral relations.
